We will discuss here the best way to establish or improving your credit scores, including if or when it makes sense to contact a credit repair company

Most college students these days have already developed a credit history by the time they graduate. However, there may be a few that for whatever reason never saw the need to apply for a credit card while in college. Or maybe you are a newly sworn in resident without any credit history. Well, there is hope for you but it's going to take some time.

  • Open a checking/savings account. Put at least $500 in savings if you can. If you don’t have them, try to borrow them from a relative or friend. It will for a short time.
  • Apply for a secured credit card with that bank. This is a card that you can use as a regular credit card, but that will pay for your purchases from whatever you have in your bank account. Use the card every month for regular purchases and pay it in full at the end of the month.
  • Look into buying a small appliance such as a TV, stereo or furniture. The store may be able to give you credit particularly if the loan is not too high. Pay it in installments(on time) even if you could pay it off in full at the end of the month so that you can start establishing credit. The interest rate may be higher than what you’d like but this should be OK as the loan should not be too high.
  • Or you can apply for small personal loan online. They usually require a credit card but you should have the secured one mentioned above.
  • As time goes by, try to apply for other credit cards such as gasoline or department stores. The credit limits may be small and the rates may be high so you should use them for small purchases and pay them off in full every month.
  • Put the utilities where you live in your name and pay them on time. Eventually those will be reported to the credit bureaus.

In a period of 6 months to a year you would have established. You always have to be careful not to get into too many debts or you may not qualify for the phome when you apply.
